How this affects our editorial process

It doesn't — and here's why we say that with confidence: our recommendations are determined before we identify or apply to affiliate programs for a product. We have recommended free tools over paid alternatives, and budget tools over premium ones with higher commissions, when that was the honest assessment.

We do not accept payment for positive reviews, guaranteed coverage, or ranking positions. Vendors cannot purchase placement in our "best of" lists.
